Menopause & hormones.

Treatment should fit you – not the other way round.

What can I help you with?

  1. Is it the menopause?

Sleep problems, hot flushes, changes in your periods, mood or concentration can arise in the years around the menopause.

I help you see the symptoms in context and assess whether they may be related to perimenopause or menopause, or whether something else should be investigated.

  2. Finding the right treatment

There is no one treatment that suits everyone.

I go through the relevant options with you – including hormonal and non-hormonal treatments – and look at expected effect, side effects, risks and what is important to you.

If hormone treatment is relevant and safe, I can start treatment as part of your programme.

  3. Follow-up and adjustment

Treating menopausal symptoms is not necessarily a decision made once. It can take time to find the treatment that suits you best.

I follow up on effect and side effects and adjust the treatment if your needs change.

Typical questions

  1. Could the changes I am feeling be due to the menopause?
  2. I still have periods – could I be in perimenopause anyway?
  3. Do I need blood tests or other examinations to find out whether I am in the menopause?
  4. Is hormone treatment relevant for me?
  5. What are the benefits, side effects and risks of hormone treatment?
  6. What options do I have if I do not want or cannot use hormone treatment?
  7. How do we know whether my treatment is working – and when should it be adjusted?
  8. How long can I continue with hormone treatment?

If your situation requires a physical examination, a scan or other investigation, I help you clarify what the next relevant step is.
